Annual Service Awards
Annual Service Awards
Each year the KAMFT Board chooses to recognize the work of MFTs in Kansas. We take this moment to focus on the dedication and achievements of specific MFTs working throughout the state. In presenting these awards, it is our hope that we can celebrate the accomplishments of our colleagues and, in the process, that we will all encouraged and inspired to offer the best possible care to the clients we serve.
KAMFT New Professional Award
The KAMFT New Professional award is offered to an MFT who graduated with a Master's degree within the past five years. With this award we intend to recognize a person who is demonstrating the critical qualities necessary for successfully making the transition from student into their new professional role as a clinician. Those qualities, we believe, include the formation of a professional identity and a demonstrated investment in continued learning. The recipient of this award exhibits the qualities necessary for carving out their professional niche among the various options in the mental health field and, despite finishing graduate training, the person gives evidence of their continued investment in learning and professional development.
KAMFT Award for Service to Kansas Families
The KAMFT Award for Service to Kansas Families is offered to a professional who has an awareness of the specific needs of their client population as demonstrated by one or more of the following efforts: accommodation of their clinical practices, involvement in community-wide programming, or advocacy through the development and/or implementation of public policy and legislation.
KAMFT Award for Service to the Profession
The KAMFT Award for Service to the Profession is offered to a person who has exhibited the leadership that has contributed to moving our profession forward and further establishing Marriage and Family Therapy as a vital contribution to the mental health professions. This person's service has demonstrated ways to reach beyond clinical work to contribute to the development of MFT in one or more of the following ways: advocacy for the profession through the development and/or implementation of public policy and legislation, representation of Kansas through leadership at the national level, or involvement in teaching, supervision, scholarship, and research that has contributed to the further development of the MFT profession and services.
